I recorded details of each doctor’s visit and significant events she experienced the day she was diagnosed – this became a Word file of 195 pages. It includes a list of doctors, addresses and phone numbers, proposed discussion items and questions we prepared in advance of each visit, the time and date of the visit, and visit notes of discussions with the doctor, prescriptions he provided and other pertinent information generated in the visit. I provided a list of proposed discussion items to the nurse for the doctor to read before coming into the room. Some doctors ignored the list, others welcomed it. I accompanied Pearl to each visit to participate in the discussion and take notes. We tried to get a response to each item listed. The date and time of the next app’t was entered.
