Once it became apparent that we were dealing with some items Pearl’s specialists didn’t have answers for we decided to make an appointment with a renowned Medical Clinic. The Clinic Rheumatologist assigned to Pearl had co-authored several medical publications about GCA and PMR. He advised that Pearl should be managed by C-rP and clinical symptoms in addition to sed rate, and she should take Plavix because of elevated platelets. Another item to monitor in the CBC tests is hemoglobin since it can reflect GCA inflammation if lower than normal. The Clinic Rheumatologist was responsive to questions we emailed on occasion after the visit.
